28 Years Old

What an amazing weekend. It was my 28th birthday!! This may seem really weird but when I turned 27 I was kind of in shock. Not because I felt like I was getting old, but because I was a huuuuge Nirvana fan when I was a kid and at 12 years old knowing Kurt Cobain had died when he was 27 you kind of think "well he lived a full life". When I turned 27 it was like WOAH, who would ever feel like they lived a full life at this age?  I am glad to be living and exploring all that the world has to offer.  Was there a specific age you turned that meant a little more than the rest?

On a separate completely different note I would like to announce after a years and a half of unemployment, I finally have a job!! I was lucky enough to get a human resources/recruiting position at dish network! I think it is going to be a huge shock to my system, but I am really excited to start the next phase of my life.

I hope that everyone had a lovely weekend!

Jeff Who Lives at Home

I was a bit apprehensive about this movie.  For some reason despite loving The Rocky Horror Picture Show with every fiber of my being, I am not a fan of Susan Sarandon.  I can't explain why but I avoid her.  Maybe it's so I don't taint her image as Janet Weiss.  I stray.

It took a wonderful friend whose opinion I trust implicitly to get me to walk 1/2 a block to the Red Box and pick this little gem up.  It's a story about a man who seems to be drifting through life looking for meaning in all the wrong places.  He's waiting for something to happen and when he gets to life's destinations there is nothing there.  This is a feel good movie about where life takes you and why.  I would recommend it for sure.  Especially true if you too try to read cracks in the wall.  Did you know you can rent movies from Amazon? I didn't.

The Intouchables

This is a bit of a first and a bit of a suggestion. If you like foreign movies even a little bit, you have to see The Intouchables. The basic story is that a quadriplegic lost his zest for life. Everything is mundane until he hires a new nurse who opens his eyes to life's possibilities again. It is full of humor and actually focuses very little on the obvious fact that one of the friends can not get out of a wheel chair. Uplifting and incredibly eye opening this is actually based on a true story.  I got to see this with my whole family.  My dad and I were the only ones that had to read the subtitles though.  This is definitely now on my top 10 for all time favorite foreign movies.  Does it bother you read subtitles?  What are your favorite foreign films?

Midnight Meat Train

Proof this isn't porn link   imdb link
Clive Barker's Midnight Meat Train ... hmm. Bradley Cooper was awesome. Can't say I was expecting this movie at all. Not gonna give a thing away either. Not for the squeamish that's for sure. In order to watch scary movies and be able to sleep at night I have to separate myself from the movie. In the case of this movie I will be able to sleep because I don't ride a subway that goes underground. Do you have any tricks to keep yourself from getting scared? At least the home made popcorn kept me safe. So much better than packaged! And, yes I love the burnt bits and I did it on purpose. Now to turn the lights off and keep eating the popcorn .... because I couldn't eat it during the movie. Ha. This movie is currently free on Ondemand, try it if you dare and let me know what you think.

Noxzema Face Mask Review

Today I am checking out the Noxzema face mask. You will be shocked at how good this drugstore staple works at clearing up your complexion. I even noticed discoloration and scars lighten.

Now as you all probably realize Noxzema is not a face mask. Despite this, I have read countless articles on how Noxzema is a life-altering elixir for your skin when used as an overnight mask.

Others claim that their 80-year-old grandmas have been using it since they can remember and that they are without wrinkles or blemishes. I am sooo down for that!

Just some background knowledge for you; upon researching Noxzema I have found that the primary ingredient is actually water.

Now this may seem like a downfall, but in fact it is not. I would much rather the primary ingredient be water instead of something derived from alcohol; which we all know is incredibly drying. (Check your conditioner bottle, I can almost guarantee that one of the first 5 ingredients is some sort of alcohol... awesome conditioning corporations, awesome)

Anyways... most ingredients are listed in conjunction with the amount that is in the product. The first ingredient is the most abundant, last ingredient is the least. Noxzema lists its ingredients as follows:

water, stearic acid, Linum usitatissimum (linseed oil), glycine soja (soybean oil), propylene glycol, gelatin, camphor, phenol, ammonium hydroxide, eucalyptus globulus leaf oil, calcium hydroxide, menthol, sodium bicarbonate, calcium chloride, magnesium sulfate, potassium chloride, fragrance

So did it work?

I left it on all night every night for a month without a problem. What do you think? I see improvement!

I am not disappointed in the least. Here is a link if you would like to check it out Noxzema Classic Clean Moisturizing Cream 12oz amazon's prices never cease to amaze me. I would 100% recommend it. What have you tried in the name of vanity?

Weekly Wonders

Weekly Review !!

These are my favorite fajitas EVER ... recipe created by yours truly link---> fajita recipe.  I have never been into the whole low carb thing, but seeing as I forgot to buy tortillas my new experience is fajita lettuce wraps ! The extra crunch was just perfect.  I suggest using a couple pieces of lettuce so that you have something to hold onto; the chicken and veggies are hot you want to avoid droopy lettuce and burnt hands when you are taking a gigantic bite.

Verdict: Delicious; a little bit of an extra mess and prep but totally worth it.

I also started painting my nails this week.  GASP?!?!  Anyone else have a major problem when it comes to nail polish?  I swear if it sticks on my nails for longer than 18 hours I am doing pretty good.  Sally Hansen's Diamond strength no chip nail colors rock my world.  I have had this polish on for 5 days !! Despite the fact that it looks like a 3 year old went to town on my digits, the color is still there
Verdict: Amazing product ! I wish that it dried a bit quicker but has the staying power it promised!

I don't normally like to bash things. I know that an incredible amount of work went to creating this product. But I just can't suggest Walden Farm's Marshmallow Dip to a soul. I tried this thinking "oh hey yum could be good I'm not that picky".  The consistency is like a hair gel but slimier.  The taste is something like a chemical burn followed by licking a lemon.  Now maybe my taste buds are skewed, because this product got wonderful reviews online.  I for one will not be buying it again and am actually wondering about that 100% guarantee.

Verdict: My dreams of eating spoonfuls of 0 calorie deliciousness have been squashed.  I tried it again right before writing this and almost cried. I will be seriously considering a refund. Ick.

Has anyone else had a different experience with Walden Farms?  I would be willing to give another of their products a shot... but it may take a while.  Are there any products you recommend?  I would love to give them a try.

Taking the last bit in

I can really feel the trip coming to a close. We leave on Friday, and it has just been the best experience. I feel like I have learned so much about myself. I now have a clear head about how I want to leave the next few years of my life. Hopefully it all goes as well if not better than planned.

Now for the pictures! I have this ever lasting loooove for eggplant. If you ever get the chance to put a few slice of eggplant and onion on pizza please please pleeeease don't hesitate. That blue sign says that the building has been there since 1582. How absolutely insane is that? That building was made for the statement if only the walls had eyes. While walking down around Place Vendome we spotted a photo shoot !! Not sure what kind of car that is, but there were definitely Louis Vuitton bags piled high and it was taken in front of a Cartier store. I will keep my eye out for an advertisement in Vogue ha. I think there would have been much more paparazzi around if that was Kate Moss ... but there are some slight similarities. Maybe I'll just pretend that's true.  From glamor to trash Paris has it all !!  Seriously do you see that garbage truck trying to go down the little street?  French people love eating outside, and I literally saw people moving their bar stools and tables to get out of the way of the garbage truck.  Not to mention the 100's of people walking around.  It was a ridiculous site and kind of makes me want to squirm just thinking about it.  Definitely navigating a huge truck down little side streets would be the worst.

That's all for tonight.  I think that if I have a chocolate rocher I will do a candy photo op otherwise, till tomorrow !!
