Modge Podged

I managed to absolutely massacre my desk with crafts, glue, nail polish, oh scratches who knows it looked terrible ! Something had to be done! One giant jar of modge podge later we have this.

I went to local thrift stores and picked up every vintage children's book I could find. In addition I also found a coffee table book that highlighted beautiful women from the 50's-70's. I picked all my favorite pictures and armed with a pair of scissors went to town.

Once you have all your pictures modge podge a gigantic collage over the surface of your choosing. I finished with a coat of gloss.
My only complaint is that modge podge dries sort of sticky. Not really sticky ... but ehhhh I am super anti anything sticky, scratchy, gooey, dusty etc. I am probably a little more critical than most when it comes to this. Any of you have this problem with modge podge or am I nuts?

I am happy all is sealed, but I will probably buy a cut piece of glass in the future. Hope you are inspired and vow to only ruin books for art.

  1. Thanks for stopping by my blog!
Love this DIY, I have been saving my calendars over the past couple of years for this exact same reason! I just need to find a desk large enough for the calendar pics :)

  2. Ah, that looks like it would be so much fun! I used to love making huge collages, but haven't done anything like that in awhile. I need to try this!

  4. So cute and fun!! It does dry slightly tacky sometimes, depending on the climate. You can use Minwax Polycrylic (brush it on) to make it go away, and it adds to the durability.
